F.A.Q - here to help you.
From time to time here at Jonathan Flint Photography we hear the same questions which people just need a little help with answering. This section is built to help with some of the most common questions.
WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS?
We like to be available to our clients on a 24/7 basis via email, from 9-5 Tuesday-Saturday, via telephone and in person. Times and dates do obviously vary based on the dates that I am booked to be photographing a wedding. On these occasions I always return calls and e-mail at my earliest convenience.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CONTACT YOU?
I prefer e-mail for contact as this is a format that I can always refer back to and will have a solid understanding of everything mentioned, if I'm answering a call on downtime at a wedding and need to check dates and availability then this is hard away from the office. Also I can link everything together with the booking procedure from here.
IS PHOTOGRAPHY YOUR FULL TIME JOB?
YES, photography is my passion and to be able to apply myself to my passion on a daily basis is extremely fulfilling; don't get me wrong I'm not shooting every day but also doing all the necessary behind the scenes work to keep my business alive and thriving.
WHAT GOT YOU IN TO PHOTOGRAPHY?
My school friends for the long and short of it. We had a free period on a Wednesday afternoon to fill with several choices and they all chose photography and so did I to be in the 'gang' and I enjoyed it so much that I've never been able to move away from the subject.
DO YOU HAVE ANY QUALIFICATIONS IN THE PHOTOGRAPHIC FEILD?
As mentioned above I have a school qualification in Photography, G.C.S.E, followed by my A-Level. After my grammar school qualifications I moved to college where I studied Photography at Higher National Diploma level (HND) and then finally topped up to my degree at London Thames Valley University where I studied Photography & Digital Imaging BA. I was quite fortunate at the time of studying as I was learning at the time of the digital switch over, so I was still heading into the dark room to process film along with learning the introduction of digital right from the base.
HAVE YOU HAD ANY IMAGES WIN AWARDS OR BE FEATURED ANYWHERE SPECIAL?
I have had images featured on many different blogs, magazines and in competitions. Most noticeable to me was being the regional finalist for the National Wedding Awards and having one of my images come 5th in the world wide Fujilove competition for, 'through the glass'. My work can also be seen on Peak tipis blogs, Wonderful Whimsical Weddings, Save the Date Magazine, EastMidlands Wedding Magazine, Boho Weddings and many more. Most lately one of my images was announced to be the Tipi & Kata Competition winner for most creative Tipi image.
WHAT TYPE OF IMAGES DO YOU PRODUCE?
My imagery is often referred to was documentary in style, meaning that it is never/very rarely set up and the images are captured in the moment as they happen. This way works best for me so that the individuals involved in the picture generally don't know that they have been snapped! This also incorporates details of the day and creative detail shots to make you remember everything that you made happen on your day.
DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS?
I have never travelled abroad for a wedding but travel all over the U.K, England/Scotland/ Wales for weddings, and hope to one day be booked for the dream destination wedding I have always wanted to do. Rates for these are available on request.
ARE 'TRADITIONAL' GROUP SHOTS STILL IMPORTANT THESE DAYS?
The traditional group shots are still 'on trend' and very much in demand for parents and grandparents to have copies of, but numbers of the groups have drastically dropped to around 7-10 groups which makes the session easier and quicker to capture with help from the bridesmaids and the Best man/Ushers.
WHAT MAKES A PROFESSIONAL WORTH HIRING OVER MY 'UNCLE DAVE'?
Uncle Dave may be a great photographer but what some couples do forget is that they are at your wedding as much as anyone else to catch up with family and friends as well and take a few photos for you. At the times where somebody who is there solely to take photographs and look for the special moments whilst 'Uncle Dave' may be catching up with his best friends-sisters-aunties-brother and miss the shot. Being there with no connection to the family and to look for moments means nothing will be missed.
HOW DO YOU DISPLAY THE IMAGES I RECEIVE?
Packages that are I offer come in a variety of finished methods, digital download and also Images come presented to you via a beautiful presentation USB case with a selection of printed 6x4 images for you to enjoy. Albums are my true favourite, which are available in a selection of packages or can be added on after the wedding. These are accompanied by a bottle of champagne for you to enjoy whilst you sit back and enjoy the slideshow from your television. Pure luxury.
HOW MANY IMAGES DO I GET SUPPLIED WITH?
I supply to you all the images which I feel tell the story of your day without giving you too much pollution of the true good stuff. If you have a very busy wedding then you may receive over 1000 images where as if the rain holts things for a while then there may only be around 600 but we promise to include all of the best images that are captured and I average around 3500 images per wedding.
DO I GET TO CHOOSE THE IMAGES THAT I WANT?
As a general rule no, this is simply based under the presumption that you have booked me to photograph your wedding as a professional so my professional skill and ideas may need to be implemented in post processing to complete a single image which you may dismiss. Like wise you hired me for my abilities as a photographer and selection is part of my job.
CAN I SHOW THE IMAGES ON FACEBOOK/SOCIAL MEDIA?
Yes of course you can, I would love nothing more than for you to show all your friends and tell them how damn amazing we are at Jon Flint Photography. The only thing we ask is for anything that you look to do commercially comes through us, this includes other suppliers and venues. We do have a rule in place for them and they need to be seen to meet the requirements.
HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING CAN I COLLECT MY IMAGES?
Generally, after a wedding a waiting time of approximately 4 weeks is what we ask to complete your wedding, (in the hight of summer when bookings are higher a further delivery date may need to be arranged). This gives us enough time to process your images and supply them presented beautifully for you without having to rush. If you require any images for thank you cards then these can be done as a matter of urgency and emailed out but we do need at least a week to produce these.
DO YOU OFFER A DELIVERY SERVICE FOR USB PACKAGES?
Delivery can be arranged with the local postal service (Royal Mail) and the image boxes and champagne will be sent first class, signed for, recorded for a cost of £30.00 inside the U.K.
DO YOU OFFER ANY ALBUMS?
Yes, we offer a variety of albums, different sizes, finishes and styles to suit your needs. Sample albums can be viewed before purchase to show what they look like.
